About Us
In the spring of 2009, she founded Unity Fashion Show with the support of The Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity at Northeastern University. As a business student, she utilized her knowledge from her business classes, particularly her marketing courses, to build a reputable brand image for Unity Fashion Show. The event’s mission is to highlight dimensions of diversity by displaying the artistic talents of high school and college students, along with local designers, performers, and models. The show embraces all that makes us individuals; differences in community background and affiliation, in addition to preferences in style and fashion. Annually, local and student designers from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York join the team to present their new collections. Musical and vocal performances, giveaways, and raffles are included throughout the evening, while local salons, make-up artists, and hair stylists provide their hair and make-up artistry. Photographs, video clips and media coverage of Unity Fashion Show can be viewed at the event blog .
In January 2010, she founded Expression by Jennifer Chen, a multi-faceted business specializing in fashion design, fashion photography, model training, and event planning. Its mission is to inspire members of the fashion community through the artistry and craft of fashion. Jennifer's love and dedication for fashion stems from her work as an artist. Having worked with various visual arts mediums and fashion sculptures, she was inspired to translate her techniques in working with different mediums, tones and textures into fabric and fashion. Through each branch of her work, she integrates her passion art and fashion with her mission to revitalize the craft and artistry of what defines fashion.
In addition to these products and services, she also founded The Fashion Hub, a Facebook group dedicated to updating members in the local fashion community on fashion related events and opportunities, as well as featured models, designers, and events of the week. Currently, The Fashion Hub updates over 1,500 people!
Having only launched Expression by Jennifer Chen in January 2010, Jennifer has had the opportunity of being interviewed and featured in Style It Up, Huntington News, Northeastern University's College of Business March 2011 e-Newsletter, Let's Talk Magazine, and many more.
